Tropic Thunder

Review: I was looking forward to this movie being the funniest movie of 2008, but unfortunately Tropic Thunder falls short of that. While watching it I couldn't get past the feeling that this was just a really well made 'Scary Movie' type of mindless spoof. Don't get me wrong, this is much better then any of those films, but it doesn't quite make it as a top level comedy. It is a shame, since it had the potential to be a really great movie. People have been raving about Robert Downey Jr. performance, but Jay Baruchel was the true scene stealer. There were some laughs to be had, but there were also a fair share of groans at the corny humor that falls flat.
