Paranoid Park

Release Year: 2007
Review: A film about a teenage boy dealing with the guilt and paranoia after accidentally killing a security guard. Gus Van Sant comes through with some very powerful scenes, that really strike you with the emotion that must be going through the boy's heart. These scenes are too few and too far between for this film to work for me. The acting is painful to watch. I could not believe anything that was happening or really connect to any character. It was as if the entire cast was delivering lines like they were doing a read through of the script for the first time. So, while there are definietley redeeming qualities about the film, the terrible acting and frustrating narrative make this a hard watch, and not in a rewarding way.
