Changeling

Release Year: 2008
Review: This film by Clint Eastwood doesn't quite reach the level of most of his other work, but is a decent film about a woman's struggle to be heard against a corrupt police department. Angelina Jolie did a fine job with her role. The rest of the casting seemed somewhat out of place and the child acting was terrible. The biggest flaw of the film was that it was trying to say too much. It felt as though it was trying to force the issue of woman's rights down our throats when it would have made a bigger impact if was handled more subtly. The true story that this film is based on is fascinating and yet the story seemed, at times, to take a back seat to Jolie's character development. The last fourth or so of the film could have been completely cut and it would have been a better, more direct film.
Rating: 3/5
