A Single Man

Release Year: 2009

Director: Tom Ford

Review: 'A Single Man' examines a single day in the life of a despondent gay college professor, George (Colin Firth), and how he copes with the loss of the love of his life.  It is a beautifully shot film, but one that leaves you cold and empty.  It is a sterile character portrayal that is shrouded in bleakness.  Colin Firth gives a great performance and is the highlight in what is ultimately a dreary melodrama.
Rating: 3/5
